Congratulations to long time clients – Cape Ann Transportation Authority in Gloucester and Rockport, for their recently awarded state grant from MassDOT. With these funds, CATA will be utilizing our QRyde software in order to run a pilot establishing an on-demand transportation program which includes both public and private transportation providers.
During the pilot, riders will be utilizing our QRyde App to access a list of transportation vendors – which could include CATA bus, taxi, or other private vendors choosing to participate. Additionally, the QRyde web and App portal on a single platform, offers travel planning, ride booking, incorporation of rider mobility needs and preferences, electronic payment, payment and ride history, travel incidents, complaints, service provider performance, ridesharing, transportation mode, and notifications. Their goal is to use these funds to help expand services beyond their regular weekday hours – 7PM+ as well as weekends.
The program pilot is expected to last for 18 months based on the amount of money they will be receiving from the state which was earmarked for regional transit authorities. According to MassDOT, “The RTA award-winners have been selected based upon factors such as whether projects will increase ridership, demonstrate innovation, serve a priority population, be financially sustainable and provide cost savings or operational efficiencies.”
