Spartan Public Transit provides demand response transportation for the South Plains Rural Transit District which is made up of the following 17 counties in Texas – Bailey, Cochran, Crosby, Dickens, Floyd, Garza, Hale, Hockley, Kings, Lamb, Rural Lubbock, Lynn, Mitchell, Motley, Scurry, Terry, and Yoakum. Service is generally curb-to-curb, with door-to-door service available for elderly passengers or individuals with disabilities.

In 2024, Spartan’s 30-vehicle micro transit and demand response department partnered with QRyde in order to increase the efficiency of their current 500 trip/day operation. They are now successfully putting to good use, QRyde’s Global Scheduling Engine (GSE), and Dispatch 360 to schedule next day trips, as well as handle will calls and new trip assignments for day-of service.

Feedback from both riders and Spartan employees has been extremely positive. Prior to deploying QRyde, Spartan staff were scheduling trips manually, and now have been enjoying the following efficiencies.

  • Less overtime ($$)
  • Completing more trips with fewer resources
  • Increase in accuracy for pick up and drop off times
  • 2.5 month deployment from date of contract signing
