Seventh Annual Gateway Cities Innovation Institute Summit & Awards

On November 20th our founder and CEO, Himanshu Bhatnagar participated in the Seventh Annual Gateway Cities Innovation Institute Summit & Awards. The theme this year was: Catalyzing Transformative Transit-Oriented Development aiming to explore new openings to generate equitable growth by increasing mobility and stimulating reinvestment in Gateway Cities with transit-oriented development (TOD). As leaders on Beacon Hill debate improvements to commuter rail service and strategies to increase development around mixed-use transit hubs, this timely gathering drew attention to TOD models with transformative potential.
The summit featured conversations on three interrelated themes: mobility, development, and growth. Along with Karleen Porcena, Economic Opportunity Program Officer at LISC and Dr. Ramón Borges-Méndez, Associate Professor of Community Development and Planning, Clark University, Himanshu was featured in Panel 3: Growth, where they discussed mobility and land development as a means for growth for a city’s residents. They explored how infrastructure and real estate lead to more social and economic opportunity for Gateway City residents as well as how new ways of working, rising entrepreneurship, regional and global networks, and other innovations in economic development open new opportunities to grow in order to build strong, sustainable futures for generations to come.
Afterward, as one of the Innovator Honorees, Himanshu participated in the Awards Luncheon Program featuring Keynote Speaker Gil (Guillermo) Penalosa.
